VIEW ITINERARY
Nairobi Family Safari is divided into 3 options depending on time and interest of the clients. Its based on minimum 2 people using 4x4 Jeep.
Option A: Nairobi National Park, Nairobi Safari Walk and Karen Blixen Museum {Price is USD 280 Per Person Sharing}.
Nairobi National Park.
Depart from your accommodation in Nairobi or Airport early in the morning to Nairobi National Park. Nairobi is the only City in the whole World that boast of a National Park next to its door step. The Nairobi National Park is 15kms away from the City Centre and despite this proximity, there are many species of mammals including 4 of the Big Five with many other plain game animals including birds. The game drive last maximum of 4 hours. After the adventure you drive out of the Nairobi National Park and at the gate, we find the Nairobi Safari Walk.
Nairobi Safari Walk
You will enter Nairobi Safari Walk from Nairobi National Park. With its raised wooden boardwalk that allows for uninterrupted views of the animals, the Safari Walk is an introduction of Kenya’s Parks and Reserves. It shows on hand what the visitors can expect to see across the country which they visit our National parks and game reserves. Visitors can see a sample of the country’s rich animal life including the rare bongo, white rhino and albino zebra as well as big cats, antelopes and primates. The walk is very exciting because the Safari Walk is fenced, it allows the visitors to see animals closer than in a normal safari. The Nairobi Safari Walk is also home to some 150 species of local trees hence a good place for Botany. We will then get back to our 4x4 Jeep and drive to Karen Blixen
Karen Blixen Museum
Set in the serene suburb of Nairobi, the Karen Blixen Museum not only provides the most comprehensive insight into the person of Karen Blixen, but also offers a fantastic space for personal reflection in our nature trail, against a back drop of Karen’s beloved Ngong Hills.
Built in 1912 by Swedish Engineer Ake Sjogren, Karen and her husband bought the house in 1917 and it became the farm house for their 6,000-acre farm, of which 600 acres was used for coffee farming. Their marriage failed after eight years and in 1921 the Baron moved on and left the running of the farm to Karen. Apart from the story of the house and its occupants, this house is also the same place where the famous movie “Out of Africa” was shot. On this tour, you will have time to have lunch either at Carnivore Restaurant or Karen Blixen Restaurant at an extra cost. After Karen Blixen, you will be deiven back to your accommodation by our local guide to end your excursion in Nairobi.
Option B: David Sheldrick Miseum and Nairobi Giraffe Center. {Price is USD 150 Per Person Sharing}.
David Sheldrick Orphanage
You will be picked from your accommodation or Airport by our local guide and drive to David Sheldrick Orphanage. This is an orphanage for Elephant and Rhino Calves from all over Kenya. It was founded and is still managed by Daphne Sheldrick, the widow of the best known Game Warden, David Sheldrick. The young calves which are orphaned by poaching from various Parks are brought here and nursed until they are believed to be out of danger then released back to various parks to rejoin their colleagues. The visit is done during the feeding hours which fall between 11:00am to Noon every other day. Apart from the fee you pay to enter this place, you can humbly contribute to the trust to continue with the good work they are doing. You will then drive further to Nairobi Giraffe Center.
Nairobi Giraffe Center
Nairobi Giraffe Center is only 15kms from the City and was founded in 1978 to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. This is the only place where you can go as near as feeding the Giraffe from your palm. It’s the most visited place for the young people all year round and the best for the children who can dare touch the giraffe. After the trip, you will be dropped back to your pick up place to end the trip.
Option C: Nairobi Animal Orphanage, Karen Blixen and Nairobi National Museum. {Price is USD 195 Per Person Sharing}.
Nairobi National Orphanage
You will be picked by your local guide from the hotel, apartment or Airport in the morning or afternoon to visit Nairobi Animal Orphanage at the gate Nairobi National Park to see rescued animals from around the country. Most of the animals to be seen here are lions, cheetahs, leopards, and wild dogs. The Nairobi National Orphanage is a great place to learn about wildlife conservation in Kenya, cares for a wide range of animals, including some of Africa’s most magnificent birds. After learning about the Animals in the cage, you will be driven further to Karen Blixen Museum.
