Nairobi Elephant Orphanage is the most famous David Sheldrick animal orphanage, which has become a symbol of wildlife protection in Kenya.
Founded by Daphne Sheldrick, widow of legendary gamekeeper David Sheldrick, it is home to over 70 rescued animals. Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage Nairobi is home to elephants, rhinos, and giraffes. It also operates Africa’s most successful elephant rescue, rehabilitation, and reintroduction program.
Elephant Orphanage Nairobi offers visitors a unique opportunity to watch the animals being fed from 11:00 to 12:00 (every other day). Unlike zoos, each animal here lives in a large enclosure and is cared for with empathy and respect.
